En effet après la commune, en se dirigeant vers le sud, s'étendent les hautes plaines, sur un itinéraire entre la vaste plaine du Chélif et la plaine du Sersou.

Theniet El Had est situé à 173 km au sud-ouest d'Alger et située à peu près à 48 km du chef-lieu de la wilaya de Tissemsilt.

L'origine du village est un village arabe situé près de l'oued. La colonisation française en 1841 entraine le développement du lieu qui subit toutefois en 1853 un tremblement de terre destructeur pour les habitations.
