Alger : Haut lieu du debarquement alliés

De nombreux historiens ne soulevent pas le fait que le debarquement des alliés fut imaginés à Alger.

En effet, Montgomery s'entretenant avec un haut officier américain, dans les latrines, devant un lave main, se trouvait face à une glace,en l'embuant ou il dessina l'invasion de la Sicile, et plus largement defini la stratégie en europe, pour se debarraser des nazis.

Bedell Smith lui avait suggéré à Alger le plan qui devait mener à la victoire. Suite à un pari de cinq £ avec le futur president des Etats unis, Ike qui pensait la victoire possible avant fin 1944 .

De nos jours, le quartier de Hydra n'ajamais oublié, il ya même un hotel portant le nom de monty.

A Alger, l'ancienne rue Michelet, fut le haut lieu des premiers pas de l'Armée des ombres, tout comme la grande poste, et Alger la blanche fut le siege du gouvernement provisoire francais pendant la seconde guerre mondiale.
